To Santa from Sebastian Cole, Indie Author of SAND DOLLAR: A Story of Undying Love

Published on December 10, 2012

Dear Santa,

If you’re looking for a great stocking-stuffer idea for Mom, may I suggest SAND DOLLAR: A Story of Undying Love.

Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook, Love Story, Love, Romance, Fantasy, Fiction, Tear jerker, Heart wrenching

As I pen this letter, however, I realize that your elves must be working double-overtime, attempting to keep up with the outrageous demand for books at this time of year. And I’m sure the last guy they want to hear from is this obscure author, trying to make a name for himself out in little Rhode Island.

So I propose a compromise: let the elves do what they do best — I don’t want to stand in their way, and I’d hate to be responsible, otherwise. And in return, all I ask for Christmas is that you put in a good word for me with your friends at the traditional publishing houses, that’s all. You know, the nice ones — not the naughty ones. I’m sure if you were to explain the situation to them over a cup of eggnog, they’d realize what a tremendous gift SAND DOLLAR would make to the world. And if you’re not sure what to say, here are ten talking points given to me by Susan Rice (see Naughty list):

Santa is Making His List – on a Sand Dollar

1) With over 60 reviews on Amazon, SAND DOLLAR has an average rating of 4.6 stars (out of 5 stars). Click here

2) Some people who have reviewed SAND DOLLAR have even called it the best love story they’ve ever read, Click here

3) with many of them comparing me to Nicholas Sparks. Click here

4) What’s interesting is that people who’ve read SAND DOLLAR, especially those who have lost a loved one, feel that SAND DOLLAR was written just for them, as if the author expressed in words what they have always felt.

5) And what’s consistent throughout the reviews is that the surprise ending was amazing, it was well written, they couldn’t put the book down (because of the numerous twists and turns and reveals), you should keep a box of Kleenex handy (perhaps the book should be packaged with one), the cover is beautiful, and they can’t wait to read another book by the author.

6) In case you don’t already know, SAND DOLLAR is an epic, heart-wrenching love story about “the one who got away”. It’s a romantic fantasy, kind of like THE NOTEBOOK with a SIXTH SENSE twist. Similar to a Nicholas Sparks novel, but uniquely different, SAND DOLLAR is a suspenseful, thought-provoking, and emotional read that, among other things, might have you yelling at the main characters at times. Written by a man, the raw emotion expressed from the man’s point of view has great appeal to its female audience, who perhaps inwardly seeks such a man.

7) Also, an interesting phenomena is that people from around the world are starting to quote me on social media sites. Apparently, some of the words I’ve written have touched them profoundly. Click here

8) In addition, SAND DOLLAR was a finalist in the ForeWord Firsts literary competition. Click here

9) And people are starting to take notice. Click here for an article written about me in a local newspaper, and click here for a Q & A.

10) If all else fails, then look no further than the hearts and souls of those who’ve read SAND DOLLAR, lives forever touched by an unforgettable story of undying love. It’s where you’ll find all the words you’ll need to make the most convincing argument.

Angie’s Book Review of Sand Dollar at Amazon

Posted on October 9, 2012

★★★★★

Not a Fan of Romance Novels, but…

“I am not a fan of Romance Novels but was drawn into the book by the author-of all things. Meeting Mr. Sebastian Cole at a book signing in New England, I was taken by the obvious love he has for his book when he speaks about the whole creative experience. Once I started reading, I could not put the book down. I just had to know what was going to happen to the really nice guy who falls head over heel in love with a troubled young woman (who doesn’t really understand the nature of her troubles.) All of the circumstances that served to keep the couple apart and the reaction of the individuals kept me wanting to know what would happen next. The ending was magnificent! I could not put the book down…I can only envision Mr.Cole’s book turning into a movie. And hope that he continues to write more !” — Angie

Sebastian Cole A Huge Success At The Big E

Posted on October 1, 2012

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to see me this past weekend in the Rhode Island building at The Big E fair in West Springfield, MA. Special thanks to Jayne Panarello for inviting me to participate in the event. Before the end of the first day, I sold out of the 160 SAND DOLLAR books that I had brought, leaving me with none to sell on the second day. At the rate I was selling them, 20 books per hour, I could have sold 400 books, had I brought enough. Who knew?! For those people who ordered books from me, I’ll make sure to get them out as soon as I get more in stock. And if you enjoy reading SAND DOLLAR: A Story of Undying Love, please spread the word or write a review online at Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Thanks again to everyone who made my first book signing event a huge success! I look forward to seeing you all again next year at The Big E!

The Three Reasons

Posted on October 2, 2012

‘How about I give you three reasons? Morning, day, and night.’

Her eyes narrowed.

‘Stay… so every morning when I open my eyes, you’ll be the first thing I see. Stay… so every day when I’m with you, I can show you all over again exactly how much you mean to me. And stay… so every night when you lay your head down next to mine, you’ll know… you’ll know just how much you’re loved.’

Her eyes drifted to the water as she thought for a moment, returning to look deep into Noah’s eyes. ‘Okay, Noah… I’ll stay.’

UPDATE: eBook File Received

I’m just waiting for them to approve and distribute it to online retailers.

I’m hoping to push the “Publish” button in a few days.

UPDATE: Sand Dollar Formatting is Done

Posted on April 12, 2012

I received the PDF files back from the formatter last night — yay! — and immediately uploaded them to the printer/distributor, Lightning Source.

The files are for the finished paperback version of Sand Dollar. In about a week, the printer will mail me a finished copy of the book for my review. If everything looks good, all I’ll have to do is hit the “Publish” button, and the paperback version of Sand Dollar will get published.

This is very exciting! 🙂

Fifth Chapter: Life At First Sight

Check back every week for a new chapter!

Posted on April 5, 2012

While Y-M-C-A by The Village People was playing at the main dance floor inside the Mardi Gras complex in Cranston, people were lined up outside, waiting to pile into the club. Noah and Scott were handed bottles of Heineken by the pretty, young ponytailed bartender as they stood watching the DJ spin records inside the mirrored booth. Scott resembled his brother, only with glasses, a slightly receding hairline, and an extra fifteen pounds from all the years of his wife’s good home cooking. Scott looked tailored, lawyer-like as a matter of fact, with a navy pinstriped suit, white shirt with gold cufflinks, and blue tie. Noah, on the other hand, was dressed more casually, wearing a blue sport shirt and tan pants.

“Thanks for coming,” Noah said as they stepped away from the bar. “The last time I came to a place like this, it didn’t go so well. At least this time I have good moral support and a shoulder to cry on,” he said, laughing.

“Anything to help, Little Brother, but I can’t stay too long, or I’ll turn into a pumpkin. I promised Sharon I’d be back by midnight. I figure if she can have Girls’ Night Out once a week, I can have Brothers’ Night Out once in a blue moon, right?”

“Sounds good to me,” Noah agreed, clanking his Heineken to his brother’s.
