“If you LOVED The Notebook, you will, with no doubt, LOVE Sand Dollar!”

★★★★★  4.5 ROMANTIC, UNDYING LOVE STARS

“If someday you should ever think of me and miss me, know in your heart that I’d want you to find me once again. No matter how distant in time or space..FIND ME.”

“We don’t choose love…love chooses us.”

If you LOVED The Notebook, you will, with no doubt, LOVE Sand Dollar! This book had me at page one and did not let me go. You hear the love story spanning 60+ years between Noah and Robin from Noah’s POV. The narration of this book is flawless!

The story opens with Noah at his wedding, and Robin shows up after many years. That first chapter is heart grabbing, emotional, tearful!

“I wanted to hate you so bad, but I couldn’t stop loving you long enough to hate you. If there were any way I could have erased your memory from my brain, I would have done it in a heartbeat. But not a chance of that…not with my heart refusing to let go. I would have given my left lung just to hold you in my arms for one more day, just one day. Thirteen years, and not a day gone by that I didn’t pray you’d come back, look into my eyes, and say the words that you just said to me.”

Noah was a born romantic. He always wanted a wife, a woman to love, a woman to love him, his soul mate! He believed in this and when he met Robin he knew he had found that perfect woman!

“For me, I guess it was kind of like trying on different pairs of shoes. You know…until you try them on and wear them for a while, you really don’t know if they’re going be a good fit. But I wasn’t looking for just any woman; I was searching for one in particular–my soul mate. I had no idea where to find her, but I knew one thing for sure: I’d know her when I see her.”

“No one else ever looked at me that way before–or after for that matter. The connection in our eyes, the window to our souls, couldn’t possibly be any stronger. Yeah, I had found my soul mate all right, and my life would never be the same.”

As you become engrossed with Robin and Noah’s love for one another, you will be cheering them on. You will become mad at Robin. You will become frustrated with Noah and all his “too nice” tactics. You will never stop fighting for them to make it.

“Why do you keep looking at me like that?” he asked.

“Because you give me butterflies.”

“I know what you mean. When I look at you looking back at me like that…I get them too.”
My heart ached, my heart healed, my heart pounded for joy. Their is huge amounts of emotional investment in this book and every damn word is worth it!!

“Stay…so every morning when I open my eyes, you’ll be the first thing I see. Stay…so everyday when I’m with you, I can show you all over again exactly how much you mean to me. And stay…so every night when you lay your head next to mine, you’ll know…you’ll know just how much you’re loved.”

Noah’s love for Robin never stopped and even though Robin had to fight some inner demons her true love for Noah never left.

“I guess what I’m really trying to tell you is…we loved each other’s souls, and as long as we had each other, we were happy. And in the end, that’s all that really matters.” — Sara

Sand Dollar Book Review at Coffee Time Romance

Posted on March 30, 2013

“Noah Hartman is a man searching for a path in life that leads away from his rich, pampered existence as the only child of a wealthy family. Smothered by his loving, overprotective, Jewish parents, Noah longs for more. When he stumbles across a free spirited woman, Robin, he is stunned by the wide world of possibilities that opens before him.

Robin is searching for answers to questions that always seem to slip beyond her comprehension. She has a daughter to care for and more emotional baggage than she can lug around. When Noah appears in her life, she is immediately suspicious of something that looks far too good to be true.

Now eighty years old, Noah is looking back at his life with the clarity of age. Paths merge and split. Hearts are broken and mended. Still, he knows only one thing is an absolute truth. Love is the tie that binds, the glue that holds it all together, and the only thing you can take with you into forever.

A beautiful love story reminiscent of Mr. Sparks’ The Notebook, Sand Dollar plays upon the notion of the road not taken. Readers will be enchanted by the deep abiding love between two characters that seem peppered with insurmountable odds.”

“Most of all, books like both The Notebook and Sand Dollar help everyone to realize that time is passing and that we should always tell those we love how much joy they’ve brought us and that the difficult times made us stronger and the people we are today.” – Jeanne Miro

“I’m trying to remember if there ever was a book like Sand Dollar that I read and as soon as I was done with it [I’m talking mere seconds after] that I just wanted to shout to the world and beg people to get it ASAP… come to think of it, it probably happened on one or two occasions, but right now I don’t have the time to ponder when or which book it was, BUT I do have the time to tell you why I think you should find the time to read this story.”

Similar to a Nicholas Sparks Novel, But Uniquely Different

Posted on October 16, 2012

Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook, Love Story, Love, Romance, Fantasy, Fiction, Tear jerker, Heart wrenchingWith each new twist that’s woven into the plot comes a new revelation about the heroine’s past, an element of suspense that makes it difficult to put the book down. Similar to a Nicholas Sparks novel, but uniquely different, Sand Dollar: A Story of Undying Love is a thought-provoking, emotional read that, among other things, might even have you yelling at the main characters at times. Unlike your typical fairytale romance, the characters in Sand Dollar have real-life issues that must be dealt with. As in real life, things rarely go according to plan, and all too often it’s the ones we love the most who end up hurting us the most. A mixture of joy and heartache, this realistic portrayal of life is what sets Sand Dollar apart.

When the story opens, Noah, who is old and sick in a hospital bed, tells of his undying love for his soul mate, his one true love, Robin, who also happens to be the one who got away. The story is told from Noah’s point of view with two timelines: when he’s old and when he’s young. Eventually, these two timelines intersect with a surprising plot twist, and the story moves forward from there with the most beautiful of endings – an ending that you’ve just got to read for yourself.

“If you like Nicholas Sparks, here’s a book for you!”

Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook, Love Story, Love, Romance, Fantasy, Fiction, Tear jerker, Heart wrenching

I am truly grateful for all of the wonderful reviews that SAND DOLLAR: A Story of Undying Love has received thus far; and I am humbled by the comparisons that have been made to an incredible author whom I greatly admire, Nicholas Sparks.

Here’s what people are saying:

“This smashing debut by Sebastian Cole reads like the best of Nicholas Sparks with just enough schmaltz. Moving and emotive, it’s every bit THE NOTEBOOK.” — Jon Land, best selling author of STRONG AT THE BREAK

“In the vein of THE NOTEBOOK and numerous other classics, SAND DOLLAR proves once again that true love never dies.”
 — Marsha Oglesby, Hollywood producer

“If you LOVED The Notebook, you will, with no doubt, LOVE Sand Dollar!” — Sara at Amazon

“I enjoyed this book very much, and would recommend it to any Nicholas Sparks’ fans out there, like myself. If you are debating whether to read this book, DO IT.” — Kiersten at Amazon

“Sebastian Cole did an AMAZING job with this book. It is a great love story with real life characters and real life problems. He reminds me of Nicholas Sparks with his ability to play on your heart strings throughout the entire book.” — Kelani at Amazon

“Like THE NOTEBOOK. Really Great read, great love story!! I could not put the book down! I have definitely recomended to all my friends and book club to read.”
— Valerie at Amazon

“Excellent modern romance! It definitely was similar to Nicholas Sparks or Richard Paul Evans. Not only was it a great love story, but it was also suspenseful.”
Amy Z Drew at Amazon

“Mr. Cole’s work is exceptional, well written and beautiful, to compare him to Nicholas Sparks is accurate, but I feel that Mr. Cole is and will continue to blaze his own path and leave his own mark as a writer.” — Michelle C. Jordan at Amazon

“Recommend this book for any Nicholas Sparks fan! Great love story! Get tissues!” — Mary Levie at Amazon

“I have read every Nicholas Sparks book and I can tell you, this is right up there with them! I look forward to reading his future books!” — Lori at Amazon

“Being an avid Nicholas Sparks fan, I’m very particular about my romance novels, but Sebastian Cole did not disappoint!!” — iclimbedatreetoseetheworld at Amazon

“Sebastian Cole says on his website that his story is a cross between THE NOTEBOOK and THE SIXTH SENSE, and that is a perfect description. If you are going into this story thinking it will be another cookie cutter story of undying love, you will not get that with this one. Cole twists and turns this plot (which is why I couldn’t put it down) to where you can’t assume anything about the ending. You HAVE to read it.” — Kate Patrick

“I highly recommend this to all avid readers of Modern Romance. If you like Nicholas Sparks, here’s a book for you!” — Book Addict

“This tale is not just for all you Nicholas Spark’s fans, but for all of us that at one time or another have let that ‘one, true and pure’ love get away.”
bookworm2bookworm

“SAND DOLLAR is a love story reminiscent of THE NOTEBOOK, as the author confesses, but still remains uniquely its own story.” — Epic Book Quest

“Overall this is a great Romance. Any fan of Nicholas Sparks will absolutely adore Sebastian Cole.” — The Blogging Book

“It is a heartbreaking love story that will stay with you even after you put it down. If you are a fan of The Notebook, then this is the book for you.”
Shut Up & Read

“In the tradition of Nicholas Sparks, whom Cole cites as his favorite author, SAND DOLLAR is a sentimental love story about finding and losing one’s soul mate. Cole metes out important information at a good pace, keeping the reader as baffled as Noah by Robin’s strange changes of heart, and carefully manipulates details to lead to a real surprise ending.” — Feathered Quill Book Reviews

“Most of all, books like both THE NOTEBOOK and SAND DOLLAR help everyone to realize that time is passing and that we should always tell those we love how much joy they’ve brought us and that the difficult times made us stronger and the people we are today.” – Jeanne Miro

“When I was told that this was the next great love story I was cynical, but it is totally true.  Noah and Robin’s story is the greatest love story I have ever read. This is a story that will touch you to the depth of your heart.” — A Novel Review

“It was one of the greatest love stories ever told! I hope to see it in the movies because I will definitely go see it!” — Riau

“A beautiful love story reminiscent of Mr. Sparks’ THE NOTEBOOK, SAND DOLLAR plays upon the notion of the road not taken. Readers will be enchanted by the deep abiding love between two characters that seem peppered with insurmountable odds.” — Coffee Time Romance

Reminds me of Nicholas Sparks

“I really, really liked this book. It was definitely my kind of book. Very Nicholas Sparks. I thought that maybe the plot sounded a little bit cheesy, but you know what, that’s what I love. I really liked the writing style of this book, and I just had a hard time putting it down whenever I picked it up.

Now, things really frustrated me in this book. The main things that just really irked me were Robin, and Noah’s parents. I JUST WANTED TO CHOKE THEM. Usually, by the end of a book, characters I really hate I end up liking, depending on what the author does with the character. By the end, I did like Robin, but I never quite liked Noah’s parents. But even though I was not Robin’s biggest fan throughout the book, I found myself wanting Robin and Noah to be together.

With that being said, my favorite character of course was Noah. How could it not be?

Just to sum things up, I enjoyed this book very much, and would recommend it to any Nicholas Sparks’ fans out there, like myself. If you are debating whether to read this book, DO IT.” — Kiersten

One of my all time favorites!

★★★★★

“I won this book for free on the goodreads giveaways! Not only did Sebastian Cole autograph my book but he sent me 2 cards (with the cover of his book as the picture). One card was a personalized note to me which made me feel special. The other card was blank for me to do as I pleased. He also had a stamp with the same beautiful picture on an envelope for me. Also, in the package was a beautiful bookmark with the same beautiful stationary. I was pleasantly surprised!!

The book exceeded my expectations. I absolutely loved every part of it. I could relate to Noah so well it was scary. The book was about a man named Noah who does all he can to find a partner in life when one day he finds Robin unexpectedly. They quickly fall in love and marry. Shortly after they marry things fall apart. Noah has trouble getting over Robin because he believes they are soul mates. Add Robin’s hidden secret to the mix and it makes for an interesting story! (I will not go on because I do not want to ruin this story for you.) IT IS A MUST READ!!

Sebastian Cole did an AMAZING job with this book. It is a great love story with real life characters and real life problems. He reminds me of Nicholas Sparks with his ability to play on your heart strings throughout the entire book. At the end of the book in the, “A note from Sebastian Cole,” there is a part that touches my heart intensely. Cole writes, “Perhaps you know someone whose heart clutches onto the bittersweet memory of the one who got away. Someone who secretly bears the weight of this imperceptible burden wherever he or she goes, everyday of his or her life. Someone who’d gladly travel back in a time machine to a day when paths diverged, to mend together that which has been torn apart, setting destiny back on its rightful track- if only he or she could.”
That, in turn says it all. Read this book!” — Kelani K

Johanna’s Review of Sand Dollar at Amazon

An excellent book…

★★★★★

“Sand Dollar is a love story reminiscent of “The Notebook”, as the author confesses, but still remains uniquely its own story. I won’t bother with a lengthy synopsis as other readers have done a fantastic job summarizing it.

There were several things I really enjoyed about this book, most important of which, I think, is that the story always felt “real”, and never forced. I also loved how the author chose to go back-and-forth between the past and the present, revealing layers of the story as they become relevent. I was totally taken by surprise by the ending (sad in a way but ultimately it was a happy one), which I didn’t see coming at all, another plus!

My one complaint? Not really with the story itself, but I couldn’t help but notice the absence of an author bio and picture, something which I compulsively seek out before I ever start a story. Its not really a big deal, but I like to be able to read about an author to sort of get to “know” them before I read their work so I have an idea of where they’re coming from. Plus, who wouldn’t want to see what such a hopeless romantic looks like?

Marvellous book, it brought a smile to my face, and I would certainly love to see Sand Dollar become a movie as the author wishes, I have a feeling it would do very well 🙂

I have received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads”  Johanna
