The Notebook Meets the Sixth Sense in This 99c Romance – April 16

SAND DOLLAR is a heart warming romantic fantasy that is sure to have you laughing, crying and falling in love with Noah.  Noah Hartman on his deathbed describes his life of love and loss, only to discover a far greater truth.

SAND DOLLAR was inspired by the author’s life after finding a sand dollar while snorkeling in the Caribbean and how it applied to his life. Who would play Noah? Channing Tatum, of course!

Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook, Love Story, Love, Romance, Fantasy, Fiction, Tear jerker, Heart wrenching

This is also available on Nook and Apple.

BOOM ! The precious sand dollar in Noah’s hand exploded. In what seemed like slow motion, the sand dollar disintegrated through his fingers into a thousand tiny grains of sand that evanesced into obscurity.

“Because for me, the sand dollar represents life, and how fragile life really is. What was once so very precious to me, suddenly and without warning, disintegrated and vanished before my eyes. Just like the sand dollar, life holds no promises. Seemingly solid and secure in our grasp, the blessings we have in our lives today are easily shattered tomorrow. The lesson learned: never take your loved ones for granted. And if you’re ever lucky enough to find that one person in life who makes you love more than any other person could possibly make you love, you treat every day together as if it were your last. You cherish every moment.”

“However, for me, this lesson came too late, for she was already gone, seemingly lost forever. And there was nothing I could do to put the pieces back together. I would spend my life wishing I could somehow travel back, back in time, to the day I first laid eyes on that precious beauty.”

The precious beauty of Robin’s young face was shadowed by sadness as she nervously searched Noah’s worried eyes for reassurance.

Sebastian Cole

Born and raised in New England, Sebastian Cole joined his family’s business after graduating from Brown University in the 80s. A true romantic, his life is defined by following his heart and pursuing his dreams, which is why he has become a novelist. Sebastian writes from the heart, believing in true love, love at first sight, and finding that one person in life you’re meant to be with.

His debut novel, Sand Dollar: A Story of Undying Love, has won numerous awards, including being a winner in the Beverly Hills Book Awards, a finalist in the ForeWord Firsts debut literary competition for first-time authors, and currently a finalist for ForeWord Reviews Book Of The Year Award. Sand Dollar was on the cover of Publishers Weekly (March 25, 2013 issue). With a rating of 4.6 stars on Amazon, the book has been getting rave reviews, many of which compare him to his favorite author, Nicholas Sparks. Whether or not he ever achieves that kind of success, touching the lives of others through my writing has been the single most gratifying thing he has ever done in his life.

Touched my heart

“Sebastian Cole’s love story touches every nerve and memory as he recounts the challenges, exhilarations and disappointments of love. At first, I thought I had it all figured out, but Cole takes you on his tormented twists and turns with exceptional dialogue, imagery and honesty. It is so insightful to read a story like this from a man’s point of view. Screenplay worthy for sure.” — D. Lupo

“I won this book! It’s really wonderful. I’ll cherish my copy and recommend it to my friends. Being an avid Nicholas Sparks fan, I’m very particular about my romance novels but Sebastian Cole did not disappoint!! It took me too long to read this book. Between a million things I had to do, I always found a time to read just a little bit until I finished. Then I re-read the whole thing! :)” — iclimbedatreetoseetheworld

Sand Dollar Book Review at Coffee Time Romance

Posted on March 30, 2013

“Noah Hartman is a man searching for a path in life that leads away from his rich, pampered existence as the only child of a wealthy family. Smothered by his loving, overprotective, Jewish parents, Noah longs for more. When he stumbles across a free spirited woman, Robin, he is stunned by the wide world of possibilities that opens before him.

Robin is searching for answers to questions that always seem to slip beyond her comprehension. She has a daughter to care for and more emotional baggage than she can lug around. When Noah appears in her life, she is immediately suspicious of something that looks far too good to be true.

Now eighty years old, Noah is looking back at his life with the clarity of age. Paths merge and split. Hearts are broken and mended. Still, he knows only one thing is an absolute truth. Love is the tie that binds, the glue that holds it all together, and the only thing you can take with you into forever.

A beautiful love story reminiscent of Mr. Sparks’ The Notebook, Sand Dollar plays upon the notion of the road not taken. Readers will be enchanted by the deep abiding love between two characters that seem peppered with insurmountable odds.”

“I have read every Nicholas Sparks book and I can tell you, this is right up there with them!”

★★★★★  Amazing love story

“Sebastian Cole did a wonderful job of capturing the joys and heartaches of being in love in this novel. He delves into the emotions of each character so very well…I read it one day, because the story just flowed and I could not wait to see what would happen next! I think every person can relate in some way to this book; the role family dynamics play out in our lives, versus our own belief systems… just a terrific love story! I have read every Nicholas Sparks book and I can tell you, this is right up there with them! I look forward to reading his future books!”Lori

A story about true love, and the measures one is willing to take to save it! With an insight of what it is like to love one with an imbalance, and what it means to never ever give up on the one you love! Sebastian Cole has an “easy-reading” style of writing. Read Local by Jennifer Massotti

Posted on January 11, 2013

This is a repost of Jennifer Massotti’s article, “Read Local”, published at OnlineRI on January 05, 2013

We avid readers wait, with bated breath, the release of the latest New York Times Best Sellers list to see what’s top of the charts this week. Or for the more cerebral type, the IndieNext Lists, which feature monthly selections of the best selling titles from independent bookstores across the nation.  We get word-of-mouth recommendations from other booklovers as to what to read next, but when was the last time you picked up a recently released book by a local author? Where does one even go to find such books?

Local, oftentimes self-published, authors are the most impassioned, determined people around.  They are not just going door-to-bookstore door to sell their wares, they are sharing their stories – their brainchildren that have been birthed and nurtured for months, if not years. These authors will do whatever it takes to get their books into the right hands to increase the awareness and appeal to the broader masses. Many an author has passed through our bookstore doors, and I am so grateful they have. By making the personal connections with these talented, and persistent, authors, I have been introduced to literary adventures that I otherwise would not have embarked upon.

While some of the more tech-savvy self-published authors have their titles available through a multitude of online resellers, most rely on the local, brick and mortar bookstores within their community for help with signings and promotional efforts. Many independent bookstores feature a great assortment of titles written by local authors, from poetry to fiction to cookbooks – most of the time they have signed copies available. But don’t take my word for it, next time you’re in your community bookstore, ask one of the booksellers, they’d be happy to share these local treasures.

Some new releases by local authors worth the read.

Drifting: Two Weeks on the Hudson by Mike Freeman (non-fiction)

As controversial as it is comforting, Freeman’s narrative makes us think in hard ways about America as the country itself drifts toward an uncertain future. But throughout, of course, is the magnificent Hudson, whose resilient beauty speaks well both to nature’s toughness and America’s greatest strength–the ability to redirect and change course when necessary.

“In an era when the political Left and Right, the back-to-the-Pleistocene ecological purist, and the `drill, baby, drill’ zealot are at a divide far wider than the Hudson itself, Freeman shows how close observation, not only of nature but also of parenthood, citizenship, nation, and history, can reveal truths that bind us not merely as Americans but as a species. We’d all do well to follow his model.”
— Sydney Lea, author of Hunting the Whole Way Home

Sand Dollar: A Story of Undying Love, by Sebastian Cole (fiction) is an epic, heart-wrenching love story about the one who got away. It is best described as a romantic fantasy, kind of like The Notebook with a splash of The Sixth Sense. Similar to a Nicholas Sparks novel, but uniquely different, Sand Dollar is a thought-provoking, emotional read with real life situations that might even have you yelling at the main characters at times. And not only is it filled with plenty of twists and turns, but the ending will knock your socks off!

“Sand Dollar is one of those rare books that makes you feel, laugh and cry all at the same time. This smashing debut by Sebastian Cole reads like the best of Nicholas Sparks with just enough schmaltz. Moving and emotive, it’s every bit The Notebook done up for summer.” – Jon Land, bestselling author of Strong At The Break

The 13th Apostle, an original work by author Raina C. Smith (adult fiction/thriller), readers are compelled to review the choices they’ve made in their own lives to discover the path they’ve chosen to follow thus far; all in an effort to measure the worth of the human race.

This masterful author takes her readers on a global journey to explore the true depth of the human spirit.  Set at the Vatican, Tibet, Nebraska and in Rhode Island, the dynamic but intensely challenged characters of The 13th Apostle reveal to readers the triumphant nature of mankind as well as his decided plunge to self-ruin. The 13th Apostle introduces readers to characters who possess the purest of heart and others who bring new meaning to the word diabolical!

The Italian Way (cookbook) by Teresa Bert

Teresa and her husband John got the idea for their book while chatting at a wedding with friends who were about to open an Italian Restaurant. Musings on menu yielded such a wealth of recipe ideas, the couple decided to do a cookbook of their very own. The Italian Way: Recipes from the Old Country, contains 61 recipes inspired by Teresa’s family traditions and experiences with Italian cooking. Her husband John did all the beautiful food photography for the book.

“I received a complimentary copy of Sand Dollar for read and review, but this did not affect my review.

I first wish to thank Mr. Cole for the opportunity to read this book. I feel privileged to even have the honor of sharing my thoughts on such a fantastic and masterful creation. I will not do what I normally do which is re-summarize the entire story, no…this is a story that you must read yourself. Then and only then will you have the incredible journey that Mr. Cole takes the reader on. I really do not have enough words in my arsenal to say how lovely, heart wrenchingly beautiful this book was, I am a sucker for romance, and moreso for the undying love element.
The pain, frustration and acceptance that the main character Noah experienced by loving Robin is I do not know…. soul wrenching….

But his perseverance was incredible, and how lucky and sad, I see the tragic figure Robin as, to have and not recognize, what many do not have, someone to love them wholeheartedly, undeserved and unconditionally…

Mr. Cole’s work is exceptional, well written and beautiful, to compare him to Nicholas Sparks is accurate, but I feel that Mr. Cole is and will continue to blaze his own path and leave his own mark as a writer.”Michelle C. Jordan
