The Lesson Learned

Posted on April 16, 2013

“The lesson learned: Never take your loved ones for granted. And if you’re ever lucky enough to find that one person in life who makes you love more than any other person could possibly make you love, you treat every day together as if it were your last. You cherish every moment.”

The Notebook Meets the Sixth Sense in This 99c Romance – April 16

SAND DOLLAR is a heart warming romantic fantasy that is sure to have you laughing, crying and falling in love with Noah.  Noah Hartman on his deathbed describes his life of love and loss, only to discover a far greater truth.

SAND DOLLAR was inspired by the author’s life after finding a sand dollar while snorkeling in the Caribbean and how it applied to his life. Who would play Noah? Channing Tatum, of course!

EXCERPT:

BOOM ! The precious sand dollar in Noah’s hand exploded. In what seemed like slow motion, the sand dollar disintegrated through his fingers into a thousand tiny grains of sand that evanesced into obscurity.

“Because for me, the sand dollar represents life, and how fragile life really is. What was once so very precious to me, suddenly and without warning, disintegrated and vanished before my eyes. Just like the sand dollar, life holds no promises. Seemingly solid and secure in our grasp, the blessings we have in our lives today are easily shattered tomorrow. The lesson learned: never take your loved ones for granted. And if you’re ever lucky enough to find that one person in life who makes you love more than any other person could possibly make you love, you treat every day together as if it were your last. You cherish every moment.”

“However, for me, this lesson came too late, for she was already gone, seemingly lost forever. And there was nothing I could do to put the pieces back together. I would spend my life wishing I could somehow travel back, back in time, to the day I first laid eyes on that precious beauty.”

The precious beauty of Robin’s young face was shadowed by sadness as she nervously searched Noah’s worried eyes for reassurance.

“Sebastian Cole’s love story touches every nerve and memory as he recounts the challenges, exhilarations and disappointments of love. At first, I thought I had it all figured out, but Cole takes you on his tormented twists and turns with exceptional dialogue, imagery and honesty. It is so insightful to read a story like this from a man’s point of view. Screenplay worthy for sure.” — D. Lupo

Warwick, RI – April 08, 2013.  Rhode Island author Sebastian Cole will be doing a book signing for his debut novel, Sand Dollar: A Story of Undying Love, on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 6 pm – 8 pm at Barnes & Noble, 1350-B Bald Hill Rd, Warwick, RI. Sebastian will be joined by a host of other local RI authors, including Steven Porter, Rebecca Maizel, Laura Backman, Wayne Souza, David Marrocco, Karen Petit, Cris Pfeil, Ana Arelys Cruz, Jackie Hennessey, Cynthia Barlow, and Rachel McClellan.

Sand Dollar is an epic, heart-wrenching love story about the “one who got away”. It is best described as a romantic fantasy, kind of like The Notebook with a Sixth Sense twist. Similar to a Nicholas Sparks novel, but uniquely different,Sand Dollar is a thought-provoking, emotional read with real life situations that might even have you yelling at the main characters at times. A mixture of joy and heartache, this realistic portrayal of life is what sets Sand Dollar apart from other romance novels.

When the story opens, Noah, who’s old and sick in a hospital bed, tells his story of undying love for his soul mate, his one true love, Robin, who also happens to be the one who got away. Told from Noah’s point of view, the story has two timelines: when he’s old and when he’s young. After plenty of twists and turns that make it hard to put the book down, the two timelines intersect with a surprising plot twist, and the story moves forward with the most beautiful of endings – an ending that you’ve just got to read for yourself!

Author Sebastian Cole is a native Rhode Islander and graduate of Brown University. Set in Rhode Island, Sand Dollar reflects over forty years of personal life experiences. A true romantic, his life is defined by following his heart and pursuing his dreams, which is why he has become a novelist. Sebastian writes from the heart, believing in true love, love at first sight, and finding that one person in life you’re meant to be with.

Sebastian Cole’s novel is currently a finalist for the Book Of The Year Award in the Romance category at ForeWord Reviews magazine, and was also a finalist in the ForeWord Firsts debut literary competition for first-time authors. Sand Dollar has a rating of 4.6 stars (out of 5 stars) on Amazon with over 75 reviews, and was recently on the cover of the March 25th issue of Publishers Weekly. The book has been getting rave reviews, many of which compare Sebastian to his favorite author, Nicholas Sparks. Whether or not he ever achieves that kind of success, touching the lives of others through his writing has been the single most gratifying thing he has ever done in his life.

Sand Dollar is one of those rare books that makes you feel, laugh and cry all at the same time. This smashing debut by Sebastian Cole reads like the best of Nicholas Sparks with just enough schmaltz.” – Jon Land, best selling author.

“Sebastian Cole has written a beautiful story of love, loss and eternal happiness.”

Posted on April 08, 2013

★★★★★  Sebastian Cole has arrived!

“Sebastian Cole has written a beautiful story of love, loss and eternal happiness. As a hopeless romantic I found myself immersed in Noah and Robin’s lives. I truly believe in love at first sight, so it was easy for me to get caught up in their journey. I laughed, I cried (a lot) and I hurt right along with them. Mr. Cole makes you feel the pain of loving someone so much and the agonizing loss of that love never knowing if you will ever find it again. I loved the weaving of their lives, two people from different sides of the tracks coming together as one despite all the obstacles. This novel is a testament to true love and it shows us that no matter who we are or where we come from love knows no boundaries. I absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it. Summer is coming, pick up a copy!”

“I won this book! It’s really wonderful. I’ll cherish my copy and recommend it to my friends. Being an avid Nicholas Sparks fan, I’m very particular about my romance novels but Sebastian Cole did not disappoint!! It took me too long to read this book. Between a million things I had to do, I always found a time to read just a little bit until I finished. Then I re-read the whole thing! :)” — iclimbedatreetoseetheworld
